Both Coweta and Fayette’s senior services programs enhance the quality of life.​

Coweta Senior Services

The eight senior centers located around Coweta County provide a range of services and activities for all seniors aged 55 and above. Every week, members gather for games, music, arts and crafts, and companionship at the centers located in the county (see list on page 69). Breakfast and lunch are held daily at the Tommy Thompson Senior Center in Newnan, Monday through Friday.

Informative speakers and musical concerts regularly offer both knowledge and fun for Coweta County seniors. Some locations offer blood pressure checks for senior citizens. Its Meals on Wheels program, operated out of the Thompson Center in Newnan, is available to homebound seniors. Every senior in Coweta County is welcome to attend the annual Christmas dinner and spring picnic at the Coweta County Fairgrounds and Conference Center.

Wesley Woods of Newnan is an active retirement community, and the only Life Plan option in the region. Personalized services include medication management, assistance with daily activities, and access to trained staff available 24/7. The facility also offers social and comfort amenities such as arts and crafts, daily activities, religious services, a movie theater, and a library. Fayette Senior Services

Fayette Senior Programs (FSS), established in 1978, offers life-improving programs for seniors aged 50 and older in Fayette County. The organization operates The Gathering Place and The Life Enrichment Center in Peachtree City and Fayetteville. FSS aims to provide independent living opportunities for elderly citizens, enhancing their quality of life. Eligibility requirements allow seniors to participate in free or low-cost services. FSS also provides transportation to doctor’s appointments, dialysis sessions, and medication pickups, making it a crucial source for potentially life-saving therapies.

Meals on Wheels provides meal delivery services and companionship for housebound senior citizens in Fayette County, helping them maintain independence and comfort. Since 2009, FSS has collected and distributed pet food donations for Meals on Wheels customers’ pets, providing comfort and companionship for those unable to leave their homes. The Life Enrichment Center offers a welcoming environment for seniors 50 and older to meet new people, rejuvenate their bodies, and feel empowered. The two Life Enrichment Centers, run by Fayette Senior Services, offer over 100 monthly programs across social, educational, recreational, entertainment, and fitness subjects to keep elders active and involved. These programs aim to provide the tools needed to become stronger and more self-assured.
